About Us

Aadisha, the idea...

 Sheila Varghese says :

Many years ago I wanted to "run away" to a quiet place of rest where there would be no phones to call me, no work to do, no need to 'think' or plan for daily living (like shopping, what to cook, bath, laundry) and JUST BE.  To be able to sort myself out to a state of calm and be integrated to a "wholeness" that was the real me. I did not find any place nearby so I decided that when I retire  I would try to have/make a place like this for people especially in cities nearby in the north of India where busy people can get away for a long weekend or a week or a month... and so Aadisha  was born after I retired in 2012.I coined the word from the hindi word for spiritual direction - "aatmic disha" and hope that this place enables people to move in the right direction  in their lives.

Dr.Laji Varghese says :

Where do dreams come from?  ...For me it is sometimes in the cry of someone, it is part of an unplanned conversation, it is in some music or words from a book, news or a movie. It comes when I focus on something outside myself....in the act of "not seeking my own". The idea of a place to get away came as a part of another dream many years ago when we bought a piece of land for the school. That idea did not materialize but took another shape in the form of Aadisha. To make something beautiful for God and for people... an atmosphere of love, hospitality and rest when the one who is seeking can get connected... a place of "contact" for the Kingdom of God. A place where our senses are sharpened and spirits are awakened to get a new motivation, a new Energy... a new perspective.

Hope Aadisha will become such a place. It's not ours. Its given to all who seek to be touched by the nail - pierced Hands.

Aadisha is run by Dr Sheila Varghese and family. Helpers and cooks contribute off and on. It is mainly a self catering place with breakfast. Meals are optional. No helper or staff will be in Aadisha on Sundays.
